MMX
The Mountain Medicine Expeditions (MMX) are extensive, Rite of Passage Journeys for those who are seeking greater truth in their lives, and are willing to challenge themselves in order to find it. These initiatory experiences, involve a full cycle journey through the four directions of the medicine wheel, and are meant to facilitate a ‘descent to soul’ process, through a unique combination of wilderness therapy practice, indigenous ceremony and ritual, nature-based counseling & introspective work, and outdoor living in community. These therapeutic journeys are for everyone that find themselves at a turning point in life, where mere thinking about ourselves no longer serves us or gives us new answers. So we journey into the wilderness, seeking a new sense of direction, guidance and support that comes from a force greater than ourselves. As we journey through through the four directions of the Wheel, we explore the natural conditions and context for human growth and development; exploring how our health and wellbeing emerges from being in right relationship: with ourselves, our community, the natural world, and the mystery of life itself.
PRINCIPLES
Our expeditions are designed following the MM Method, a process inspired by the Medicine Wheel. It reflects four primary attachments that shape human health and wellbeing: to creation, to ourselves, to others, and to the world at large Each direction represents both a core need and a therapeutic step in the journey of healing.
East – Spirit. “Cultivating a personal relationship with creation, discovering our unique place in the world, and shaping our own vision for change, to connect to the great mystery.”
South – Self. “Challenging misalignments in our personal histories that prevent us from following our authenticity, addressing disruptive patterns and crafting nurturing, constructive and life-giving routines”
West – System. “Confronting relational dynamics and family patterns that surround us, doing the work necessary to create balance and harmony in our lives, building supportive networks & communities.”
North – Service. Creating a story of change and transformation, shaping a unique contribution to society based on our own healing journey, sharing our ‘medicine’ with the world around us.”
About
PURPOSE
Why This Program.
The Mountain Medicine Expeditions provide a guided rite-of-passage process for those who feel the old ways of living no longer fit, and who are ready to cross a threshold into something new. By moving through the Medicine Wheel as a therapeutic map, these journeys help metabolize challenges, release old patterns, and open the way for clarity, resilience, and renewal.
PEOPLE
Who Is This For.
MMX journeys are small-group processes (4–6 participants) that bring together like-minded people who feel called to pause, reflect, and reorient. This work may be right for you if you:
Are navigating life transitions or challenges, and seek a holistic therapeutic way of navigating their way through
Are processing excessive stress symptoms and are seeking rest, renewal and recovery in the outdoors
Are working with grief, loss or significant change in life, and need a safe, supportive space to process and tend it.
Wish to explore relationship patterns, boundaries, needs, emotional safety and belonging in a community context.
Feel drawn to a rite-of-passage journey—a threshold experience that everyday life cannot provide.
